This is what the newspaper of the future looks like.
“Sony recently unveiled their latest electronic feat at the 49th SID International Symposium, Seminar & Exhibition (SID 2011), a paper thin e-reader — or e-paper — so flexible, it can be bent around a tiny radius of 5 mm.”
(via Sony Unveils Flexible E-Paper, it Bends Around a Pencil | Inhabitat - Green Design Will Save the World)

This will be fantastic for the economy if it comes about!

It seems like people are just going absolutely QR mad at the moment. Business cards, adverts, DVDs and now Coins! Surely the novelty will wear off sometime soon.
Or at least, if you’re going to use them, make it a functional purpose, or some kind of proper use, rather than just for the sake of it.

The Dutch government is producing a limited number of QR code coins to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the national mint in Utrecht.
“These are purportedly the world’s first coins with QR codes, which currently link to the national mint, but after June 22 will link to a “surprise.”

A simple piece of augmented reality that I created for my final grad show at BIAD.

The idea uses augmented reality to create a 3D portfolio that the user can interact with and view. It showcases various pieces of my work and my contact details.

The piece was a massive hit at my final show and is still available to view now at the show up until Tuesday!

So if you are nearby, pop down and check it out! Along with all the other fantastic work on show.

This thing is WAY more nerdy looking than a segway.

“The chair itself is powered just by hand motions — even reclining — and feature omnidirectional wheels for smooth rolling. Right now it’s just a proof of concept, but Microsoft will release the chair’s source code with the SDK for further tomfoolery.”

The official SDK for the Kinect should be out any day now, which I’m sure will result in even more inventive uses for the device.

(via The Future: Microsoft Demos A Kinect-Driven Armchair)

I know it’s just a proof of concept but what POSSIBLE use could this idea be implemented into?

The People Shop is a clothing, accessories and giftware shop on Poplar Road.

All hand made clothes, try on a dress and fancy a different coloured sleeve? Or a different broach stitched into the seam? The People Shop can provide you with your dream outfit and it will be one of a kind.

Celebrating 11 years of business, They put on a fantastic little celebratory party in the street! Cakes, sweets and even free Cocktails!! Me and fellow creatives Kerry Leslie (creative director of FAKE magazine) and Jessica Bramley (junior creative) had a great time and will definitely be dropping by again in the near future

Jack daniels have decided to change their iconic, Typographic Whiskey label.

Featuring the “Gold Medals” section previously, that has been replaced by a picture of Jasper Newton “Jack” Daniel himself and an “About Us” section.

It seems that with regard to packaging recently, everything is going minimalistic, with a slight retro feel.

A fantastic idea from W+K UK for Kaiser Chiefs.
Create your own album, choose 10 songs from 20, create your own album artwork for it, buy it and then if you like, sell it for profit!
A great idea this and i’m sure it will see plenty of traffic in the not too distant future.

Great use of symbolism to replace the type. Strange how you still manage to read it without really thinking about it isn’t it?
